Angel's Envy / by Britta Badour

We laugh
half empty
sipping open bar cocktails
The night brings us together intravenously
administered through the celebration of genetics
An 80th birthday - such a good song -
accompanied by grandkids with old free souls
An 80th birthday
filled with loving company
when for 15 years or more she tries to forget
what little she had while living separate from
siblings in an orphanage
and 35 years ago she became a survivor of breast cancer
If we lose her,
we lose our ability to call ourselves grandchildren

Young at heart and young in the dark...
I know who I'll be like when I'm 80y/o
Something like the woman
who is every woman:
The Angel's Envy
